Many thanks for requesting MetaGenie, GIgateway®'s metadata creation tool. You will be pleased to hear that your patience over the last few months is about to be rewarded as MetaGenie is now available!

In order to make distribution of the software as simple and efficient as possible we have made it available as a free download from the GIgateway® website. This download also includes a comprehensive User Guide but should you wish to view the installation and usage procedures prior to download, we have made the Guide available as a separate PDF. The User Guide contains information on the technical requirements needed for installing and running MetaGenie.

The current version of MetaGenie (Version-1) will allow you to create and validate metadata to the GIgateway® Discovery Metadata Specifications (the NGDF Standard). However, once a UK profile for the new ISO 19115/19139 standard has been approved, MetaGenie will be re-tooled to create ISO compliant metadata. Information regarding both the GIgateway® Specifications and the ISO profile can be found in the 'metadata' section of our website.

In order to download MetaGenie, please click on the link below which will take you to an information and downloads page. Download of MetaGenie is free of charge and we therefore encourage you to use MetaGenie for creating metadata within your own organisation; however, this also incurs an obligation on your part to publish your metadata on GIgateway® and make it accessible in the public interest.
