Gigateway and IGGI Annual Seminar

This year's IGGI Annual Seminar, held at the Royal Statistical Society on 21 September, was called 'Building a Community and Sharing Information'. The focus of the event was to help build a community for GI in Central Government and develop ways of sharing good practice and improving access to information. There were a number of presentations and Lee West gave one on the challenges, benefits and future improvements relating to the gigateway service. Click here to view the presentation.

New gigateway guidelines for creating metadata

The Gigateway Services Team have produced some guidelines to help users create
quality metadata records. The document aims to complement MetaGenie by describing the valid entries for each field and also contains plenty of examples. There is a large section dedicated to writing clear and concise abstracts as this is often the first place that users go to when they are trying to decide on which datasets to use. These guidelines have been approved by the Gigateway Advisory Group and are available to download here. If you would like to make any comments about these guidelines please post them under the 'Guidelines for creating quality metadata' section on the metadata forum.
