Metadata Fundamentals Workshops: 1st Wave Complete |
| GIgateway completed its first wave of metadata workshops earlier this week, having visited London, Cambridge, Bath, Windsor and Coventry throughout June and into July. The workshops proved to be very popular, not only in the number of delegates attending, but also judged by the responses in our post-training assessment forms. Here are a just a few of the comments received: |
"Excellent workshop!" |
| "Excellent course. Useful, interesting, focussed on relevant issues, well delivered - Thank you!" |
| "Informative and thought provoking. A good use of a morning." |
| "A very useful course, a very easy to use tool." |
| If you are interested in attending a workshop later in the year, when we will be moving to cover the north of England, Scotland and Wales, please keep your eye on GIgateway and our e-Newsletters for dates and venues. |
| GIgateway Goals and Objectives for 2004-2005 |
| On Monday 14th June, the GIgateway Services Operating Plan for 2004-2005 was agreed and signed between AGI and Ordnance Survey. GIgateway now has a set of challenging targets to meet by April 2005, many of which are already well underway. |
| In a recent statement, Geoff May summarised some of these challenges: |
"The focus in the coming year will be on increasing the amount and quality of the metadata and raising the level of usage of the service, with the latter criteria being supported by having a greater understanding of customer needs. The Key Performance Targets in the Service Operating Plan are very challenging but when achieved will ensure there is credible evidence to support the case for continuation of NIMSA funding beyond the end of the current Agreement in March 2006." |
| The team at AGI are looking forward to meeting these challenges, with the support of OS and the wider GI community, to make GIgateway a success. |
